Frequently asked questions

Rachel Bush Photography

  • Booking is quick and easy!

    1. Firstly, please inquire here to see if I am available on your date.

    2. Once we go over logistics and confirm we’re a great fit, the next step is to lock in your date with a signed contract and a 50% retainer.

    3. Once I receive the signed contract and retainer, you are officially booked and your date is secure!

**I book on a first-come, first-served basis, so your date isn’t officially reserved until both are completed. Please note that inquiring does not secure your date.

  • I will bring a second artist with me! I have taken a lot of time to find the best artists that deliver the same top tier artistry, professionalism, customer service, reliability and time management. The network of artists I entrust on your big day have been handpicked by me and meet the highest of standards. Those that I choose to work with know exactly how a fast paced wedding morning works and what it takes to execute and how to work the most efficiently in such a setting. Trust me when I say you want artists that know how to work in sync.

  • Lucky you! Yes I do! I travel anywhere!

Within in Ohio- Anything outside of 90 minutes from my location requires hotel accommodations the night prior.

For destination weddings, please see my Destination package for more info on travel and lodging.

  • I use a variety of traditional top-performing and luxury brands that look beautiful in person and on camera. No airbrush here!

Brands I use: Makeup By Mario, Charlotte Tilbury, NARS, Haus Labs, Rare Beauty, Givenchy, Dior, Hourglass, Lancôme, YSL, Armani, Fenty, Natasha Denona, Graftobian, ONE SIZE, Danessa Myricks, DIOR, Mac, Patrick Ta, Face Atelier, amongst so much more!

As someone who is acne-prone and has extremely sensitive skin, if a product doesn't work for me, it doesn't go in my kit. Every product I use is very intentional-chosen for its longevity, comfort, and lightweight feel on the skin.

  • Yes! Lashes are included with all services at no extra cost. I have an array of different strip lash styles and individual clusters to fit all eye shapes.

  • Bridal trials are reserved for booked brides only.

This is your chance to preview your bridal look and see exactly how your glam wears throughout the day. This is also a chance to build trust with your artist! It also allows us to make any adjustments needed for longevity, comfort, or appearance—so everything feels seamless and looks flawless on your wedding day.

  • All trials take place in my backyard studio in Ashville, Ohio.

It’s best to come solo! My studio is tiny (and let’s be honest—outside opinions can make things a little confusing for you). This time is all about you—figuring out what you love, what feels most like you, and creating your dream bridal look without any pressure.

BUT your comfort is priority and if you would feel more comfortable bringing ONE person with you that is completely ok.

  • Your remaining balance is due 1 week prior to your big day. I do require that it be no earlier than that and I do not allow to be paid in full at booking.

  • No. Gratuity is not included in my rates. While never expected, it’s always appreciated if you feel I’ve added a special touch to your experience.

  • I require all wedding morning services to be completed by 1:30 PM at the latest (not including teardown time). For earlier ceremonies, services will conclude earlier as needed. For later ceremonies, the completion time remains 1:30 PM to uphold a consistent schedule and ensure a calm, seamless experience for every client.

  • I like to schedule trials 1-2 months prior to your wedding day. This way, your skin tone and general state of your skin is most similar to day of.

The only exceptions are for my destination brides, and out of state brides getting married locally.

  • If you have 7 services, it is still outside of my maximum for myself so the Elite package would be the best fit for you. Because the Elite Package is a minimum of 8 services and if you are unable to find someone to fill that 8th spot, we will find a way together to utilize the 8 service another way.

  • I work off a timeframe rather than a rigid timeline. This covers everything from my arrival to tear-down time.

Instead of assigning strict time slots, I keep the flow relaxed and efficient by ensuring there’s always someone ready in my chair. Every person takes a slightly different amount of time, and this approach keeps things running smoothly (and stress-free!) from start to finish.

  • I require hotel accomodations if the getting ready location in 90 or more minutes from me. This is typically booked under a room block. Regardless, I would need to approve before booking.

  • In the very rare event that I become sick or need to tend to an emergency, I’ll immediately reach out to my trusted network of professional makeup artists to step in and take care of you. You’ll still be in expert hands, and I’ll ensure a seamless transition so your experience remains stress-free.

  • I book up to 18 months in advance! Don’t wait to secure your date.

  • 12 people is my maximum amount of services for 2 artists. I can accommodate up to 15 maximum but this would require a third artist to assist.

  • I require 30 minutes for set up and 30 minutes for tear down.

Although not everyone takes the same amount of time, I like to allot 90 minutes for the bride, and 60 minutes per attendant for a point of reference.

  • Yes — I specialize exclusively in luxury bridal makeup. But luxury doesn’t mean stiff or formal. It’s about intentional details, calm energy, and a high-end experience that feels like exhaling. My brides are often laid-back, but they still want the best for their morning — a fully pampered, skin-prepped experience that feels as good as it looks. That’s the sweet spot I live in.

  • For timing and logistical reasons, I’m unable to accommodate location changes once services have begun. All makeup applications must take place at one designated getting-ready location to ensure a smooth and timely experience for everyone.

  • If your venue doesn’t allow early enough access, we would need to get ready at a separate location — typically a nearby hotel or Airbnb — to ensure all services are completely in a timely manner.
